Bruges is a marvelous place. As Lorie noted, everywhere you look, every corner you turn, there is another opportunity for a photograph. Fairly early this morning we walked out to the Grote Markt to find coffee. Instead, we found that Wednesday is market day. The square was filled with flower vendors, vegetable and fruit stands, cheese sellers, sausage and meat hawkers, and bread makers. It was still early so we didn't have to wait in lines to get everything we could possibly have wanted for the day: bread, cheese, sausage and veggies.
And coffee, too, of course.
We talked for a while with one cheese maker who asked about my "Buck Bay Shellfish" hat. He wanted to know all about it. But we switched the conversation to his absolutely delicious cheeses. We bought several types, including a blue veined cheese that defied description.
We spent the entire day just aimlessly wandering the streets of Bruges. Some of them are very quiet and others are packed with tourists, and it is still just May. I will just leave you with a bunch of photos of this beautiful town.
Tomorrow we ride to France. A demain.
