Quiet country roads winding through recently-planted fields was the order for the day. Sunshine and a gentle breeze blowing over our shoulder. What a pleasant change! As we turned away from the coast and into the heart of Bretagne, the beauty of riding in rural France came to life. We didn't ride far today but it was a perfect day on the bike.
Along the way - a unique church in Bretagne
It was a nice village in which to have a coffee
We saw maybe one or two cars for the first 50 km. But then, sadly, we came across this little fox. Road kill. He is/was absolutely beautiful and it made us sad to come across him.
For the last 25 km we rode on a smooth gravel path next to a canal. It was nice and cool in the shade and it was fun to marvel at how the large barges can squeeze through the locks. Well, they have maybe 100 mm on each side of the boat between the hull and the rock wall, but that doesn't seem to bother either the lock operators or the skippers.
Along the canal. Such a nice ride

We made it to our campsite just around 1500 and set up camp. It is perfect weather so tonight will be a good test of whether Lorie can get any sleep in the tent. I will let you know how it works out, tomorrow.
Home for the night. A great campground on a beautiful afternoon.
We have a relatively long day tomorrow, to Guerande. Near the mouth of the Loire.
A demain.
